Z początkiem czerwca do Zakładu Zaopatrzenia w Wodę i Biogospodarki w Instytucie Inżynierii Środowiska i Instalacji Budowalnych przyjechała studentka na półtoramiesięczny staż w ramach programu IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience). Low Zhi Pei pochodząca z Malezji, studiuje Inżynierię Środowiska (2 rok studiów) na The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Pragnąc poszerzyć swoją wiedzę i kompetencje z zakresu technologii zrównoważonego rozwoju w inżynierii środowiska skorzystała z możliwości odbycia stażu na Wydziale Inżynierii Środowiska i Energetyki, gdzie jej opiekunem podczas stażu został prof. Piotra Oleśkowicz-Popiel, kierujący grupą badawczą zajmująca się zagadnieniami związanymi z biogospodarką w inżynierii środowiska. Podczas stażu na naszym wydziale zapoznaje się z różnymi badaniami i projektami prowadzonymi obecnie w Zakładzie, a w szczególności poświęca swój czas na poznawaniu metod produkcji paliw lotniczych z wykorzystaniem estrów i kwasów tłuszczowych (HEFA) zgodnie z ideą zrównoważonego rozwoju.

HI! I am Pei or in full Low Zhi Pei. I am a student research intern here at Poznan University of Technology, Institute of Environmental Engineering and Building Installations under the support of IAESTE Poland. I came to Poland on 30 May 2022 and my internship lasts around 6 weeks in Poznan. I love to explore any possibilities I have in my undergraduate studies and hence I am here to learn more about sustainable development through biochemical processes and biotechnologies. My current focus on my internship is to analyse and discuss the literature review of sustainable aviation fuel through the ester and fatty acid (HEFA) process. My colleagues are the best, they are very helpful to guide me. This internship has given me a lot of insight and research-related experience. Also, IAESTE Poland is helpful and very kind towards international students to make us feel at home even halfway across the world from where I came from (Malaysia). I wish that I could achieve my inspiration for this internship and hope to make some lifelong memories that will last me a lifetime.
